アートって人それぞれ感じ方や捉え方も違うし、なかなかアーティストさんが何を伝えたいのか100%理解することは難しいですよね💦

アート大好きなRon先生が、美術館である有名アーティストの展示を見てきたお話や、興味がない人達にまずは何をしてほしいのか、思いを綴ってくれたので、一緒に読んでいきましょう！☟

Art - What's there to get?

I love art. Any kind of art. Paintings, drawings, graffiti, Bansky stuff. And of course music. Being able to freely express yourself in whatever way you feel necessary. My favorite artist is Salvador Dali. I love the surrealism kind of art. I even had a chance to see one of his paintings in person at the Nagoya Art Museum here in Fushimi. It's only about a 3 minute walk from Shooters; home of Power English.

So many people tell me they don't "get" art. Especially when it comes to paintings. People just don't see the big deal about art. It doesn't make them feel anything. It doesn't move them in anyway. And I'll be honest, I don't really know a lot about art. The artists. The history. The story behind works of art. But I do know this; I enjoy looking at art and it does move me. It makes me feel something.

From now until April 10th, there is a collection of Vincent Van Gogh at the Nagoya Art Museum. First of all, there is a variety of ways that different countries pronounce his name, and the actual way is pretty difficult to pronounce. So just say it the way you want to!

I went to this exhibit a couple weeks ago. Wow! It is really amazing if you're interested in art. There are about 10-15 original sketches and paintings from Van Gogh including the very last painting he did. There are explanations in Japanese and English about Van Gogh's somewhat tragic life and some information behind the works of art. What a gift to be able to see these paintings and drawings from Mr. Van Gogh.

So if you're one of those people who "get" art, I highly recommend going to this exhibit. In fact, I will be going a second time. It's 1,900yen for adults and it's better to book in advance because of coronavirus. Do yourself a favor and go see it!
