Peter's Message
Hi! I’m Peter. I’m from the north of England, near Manchester, and I’ve been teaching in Japan for fifteen years. During that time, I’ve taught just about every type of class imaginable, including kindergarten, Eikaiwa, juku, elementary school, junior high school, high school, and even a bit of university lecturing!
Over the years, I’ve come to believe that a bright, communicative approach is the best way to learn and use English. A teacher should be passionate about what they teach, and I like to think that enthusiasm comes across in my lessons. Whether it’s casual conversation, grammar, or even exploring the Latin roots of common English words, I enjoy helping students discover the language in an engaging way.
I hold a BA (Honours) in TESOL and Japanese Studies from the University of Central Lancashire, as well as a Trinity CertTESOL qualification from Trinity College London. Throughout my career, I’ve developed expertise in communicative language teaching, curriculum planning, differentiated instruction, and student assessment. I’ve taught learners of all ages and proficiency levels, and I have extensive experience preparing students for IELTS, TOEIC, Eiken, and other English proficiency examinations. My goal is to create lessons that are engaging, supportive, and academically rewarding.
If that all sounds a bit too serious, don’t worry! Outside the classroom, I’m a huge movie fan, especially when it comes to obscure 1980s horror and science fiction. I also enjoy retro gaming, music (particularly indie rock from the 1960s to the 1990s), and oil painting. In fact, I can proudly say I’ve sold more paintings than Van Gogh did during his lifetime, although I doubt mine will ever be worth quite as much!

こんにちは！ピーターです。
イングランド北部、マンチェスター近郊の出身です。日本で15年間英語を教えており、幼稚園、英会話スクール、学習塾、小学校、中学校、高校、さらには大学での講義まで、さまざまな教育現場で指導してきました。
これまでの経験を通して、英語は明るく、コミュニケーションを楽しみながら学ぶことが一番だと実感しています。教師自身が英語に情熱を持つことが大切で、その思いがレッスンを通して皆さんにも伝われば嬉しいです。日常英会話はもちろん、文法や英単語の語源（ラテン語由来など）について学ぶことも大好きです。
イギリスのセントラル・ランカシャー大学でTESOL（英語教授法）と日本研究の学士号（優等学位）を取得し、Trinity College London認定のTrinity CertTESOL資格も取得しています。これまで、コミュニカティブ・ランゲージ・ティーチング（CLT）、カリキュラム作成、一人ひとりのレベルに合わせた指導、学習評価など、幅広い分野で経験を積んできました。また、子どもから大人まで、さまざまな年齢・レベルの学習者を指導し、IELTS、TOEIC、英検などの試験対策にも数多く携わってきました。常に、安心して学べる、楽しく充実した学習環境づくりを心がけています。
…とはいえ、少し真面目な話になってしまいましたね（笑）。実は映画が大好きで、特に1980年代のホラー映画やSF映画についてなら、いくらでも語れます！そのほか、レトロゲームや60〜90年代のインディーロックを聴くこと、そして油絵を描くことも趣味です。ちなみに、生涯で売れた絵の枚数はゴッホより多いのですが、残念ながら価値はそこまで高くなさそうです（笑）。
